Miss Grit
Under the name Miss Grit, Margaret Dewey Sohn develops a solo project based in Queens, New York, after growing up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, in a family context notably marked by Korean ancestry. Trained in music technology at New York University, Miss Grit emerged in the late 2010s with the EP Talk Talk in 2019, then followed with Impostor in 2021. Her universe sits within independent electronic music with rock inflections, featuring tracks where rhythmic tension, vocal presence and shifts in texture play a significant role. After those early independent releases, Miss Grit signed with Mute Records, which issued her first full-length album Follow the Cyborg in 2023. This move to the long format accompanied more developed songwriting and a firmer aesthetic framework, without abandoning the direct approach of her beginnings. Miss Grit then released Under My Umbrella in 2026, continuing a trajectory that balances electronic production, pop formats and sonic exploration.
