CMAT
Under the name CMAT, singer‑songwriter Ciara Mary‑Alice Thompson develops a brand of pop from Dublin informed by country, Americana and indie influences. Born in Ireland in 1996, CMAT began to attract attention in the late 2010s with a series of singles that combine very direct melodies, pop‑culture references and lyrics focused on relationships, loneliness and everyday obsessions. Her music blends pop rhythms, harmonies inspired by traditional country and catchy choruses, often delivered in a narrative voice where irony sits alongside an openly embraced vulnerability. Her debut album If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, released in 2022, established this hybrid aesthetic between country‑pop ballads and more uptempo tracks. In 2023 CMAT continued in that vein with Crazymad, For Me, a concept record about a breakup and the passage of time. Active on Irish, British and European stages, CMAT also cultivates a stage presence built on direct rapport with the audience and a deliberately theatrical manner.
