Wolf Alice
Formed in London in 2010 around Ellie Rowsell and Joff Oddie, initially as an acoustic duo and soon expanded with Joel Amey and Theo Ellis, Wolf Alice has carved out a path linking indie rock, alternative rock, dream pop, shoegaze and lingering folk traces from their early days. The band circulated their songs on the London scene early on, then released the EPs Blush in 2013 and Creature Songs in 2014, where a contrast between abrasive guitars, more vaporous passages and melodic songwriting already emerges. With My Love Is Cool (2015), Wolf Alice gave a first full-length shape to this shifting aesthetic — between grunge tension, pop choruses and noise textures — and developed a broader songwriting approach on Visions of a Life (2017), an album that coincided with a regular presence on festival circuits and international tours, including dates shared with The 1975, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. Blue Weekend (2021) further accentuates the focus on atmospheres, dynamics and the place of Rowsell’s voice, while The Clearing (2025) extends that evolution. Wolf Alice remains associated with a sound capable of alternating between rock directness, hushed melancholy and more atmospheric compositions without fixing itself to a single register.
