Memphis May Fire

Formed in Dallas, Texas in 2006, Memphis May Fire is part of the North American metalcore and post-hardcore wave, blending heavy riffs, alternating screamed and melodic vocals, and tightly structured choruses. After a self-titled EP in 2007 and their debut album Sleepwalking in 2009 on Trustkill Records, the band joined Rise Records and refined their identity with The Hollow in 2011, which featured a darker tone, followed by Challenger in 2012, notable for a collaboration with Kellin Quinn. Fueled by the voice of Matty Mullins, who joined in 2008, and the songwriting of guitarist Kellen McGregor, the group established a sound drawing from both metalcore and alternative rock, with touches sometimes associated with the Christian metal scene. Unconditional (2014) and This Light I Hold (2016), which includes a track shared with Jacoby Shaddix, emphasize the band’s melodic and introspective side, while Broken (2018) explores more of the codes of modern hard rock. With Remade in Misery (2022), recorded with a stabilized lineup around Mullins, McGregor, bassist Cory Elder and drummer Jake Garland, Memphis May Fire returned to a more aggressive approach while retaining a central role for emphatic choruses, continuing a trajectory built through international tours and a steady presence on American and European metalcore stages.
