From Ashes to New

Formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the early 2010s around multi-instrumentalist and rapper Matt Brandyberry, From Ashes to New blends alternative metal, rap rock and nu‑metal influences with electronic elements and melodic choruses. After self-releasing EPs, the band was picked up by American rock label Better Noise Music and issued its debut album, “Day One,” in 2016, which established a songwriting approach centered on alternating rapped verses and rock singing. With “The Future” in 2018, the group emphasized melodic and electronic dimensions while expanding its lineup around Brandyberry, notably adding vocalist Danny Case and guitarist Lance Dowdle. “Panic” (2020) continued this fusion of modern metal and hip hop in a more introspective register, before “Blackout” (2023) returned to a sound more strongly marked by nu metal. Active on North American rock and metal stages, From Ashes to New regularly tours with bands from the alternative and metalcore spheres and often features guest vocal collaborations on certain tracks, cultivating a sonic identity built on contrasts between rhythmic aggression, electronic textures and accessible choruses.
