Graveyard

Formed in Gothenburg in 2006, Graveyard belongs to a lineage of hard rock steeped in blues rock and stoner: a rough sound, thick guitars and songwriting that draws as much from 1970s rock as from a more contemporary tension. The band, originally gathered around Joakim Nilsson, Jonatan Larocca-Ramm, Rikard Edlund and Axel Sjöberg, emerged on the Swedish scene with Graveyard in 2007, before reaching a new level with Hisingen Blues in 2011 and Lights Out in 2012. Graveyard developed a balance between massive riffs, impassioned vocals and darker melodies, while retaining a direct, organic approach. After Rikard Edlund departed and was replaced by Truls Mörck, the quartet continued with Innocence & Decadence in 2015. Two Grammis awards in the hard rock/metal category for Hisingen Blues and Lights Out marked this period. Graveyard announced a split in 2016 but resumed activities in 2017 with Oskar Bergenheim on drums, and later released Peace in 2018. Anchored in Gothenburg’s rock scene, notably through links to Norrsken, Graveyard remains associated with a heavy, bluesy rock—tense without being showy.
