Green Lung

Formed in London in 2017, Green Lung crafts a heavy rock that sits at the crossroads of doom metal, stoner metal and British hard rock, featuring prominent keyboards and imagery drawn from English folklore, occultism and folk horror. Initially brought together around singer Tom Templar, the band released the demo Green Man Rising in 2017 and the EP Free the Witch in 2018, before settling into a five-piece with the addition of keyboardist John Wright. The debut album, Woodland Rites, was released in 2019 on Kozmik Artifactz and established a sound built on thick riffs, melodies indebted to classic rock and songwriting rooted in the British heavy metal tradition. Green Lung followed with Black Harvest in 2021 on Svart Records, then signed to Nuclear Blast and released This Heathen Land in 2023. Their lyrics regularly draw on rural legends, paganism and British horror cinema, blending dark atmospheres with memorable choruses. On stage, Green Lung operates between metal and heavy-psych circuits in the UK and Europe, touring as support for Clutch and appearing at festivals such as Download, Copenhell and Sweden Rock.
