Kadavar

Formed in Berlin in 2010, Kadavar began as a trio centered on Christoph “Lupus” Lindemann, Christoph “Tiger” Bartelt and Philipp “Mammut” Lippitz; bassist Simon “Dragon” Bouteloup joined in 2013 and Jascha Kreft in 2023, evolving the band into a four-piece. They play psychedelic rock informed by stoner rock, proto‑metal and a visual and sonic vocabulary closely linked to 1970s hard rock, with riff-focused songs, analog textures and a straightforward collective playing style. After their debut album Kadavar (2012) they broadened their scope with Abra Kadavar (2013) and Berlin (2015), where the songwriting became more open and melodic. Rough Times (2017) darkened the tone, while For the Dead Travel Fast (2019) confirmed a balance between power, psychedelia and more narrative forms. Deprived of the stage during the pandemic, Kadavar released The Isolation Tapes (2020), a more introspective and expansive record, then collaborated with Elder on the joint project Eldovar, documented on A Story of Darkness & Light (2021). A regular on European rock and metal circuits, Kadavar has also played festivals such as Wacken, Rock am Ring, Graspop and Summer Breeze.
