Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats

Since the late 2000s, the British band Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, formed in Cambridge around singer and guitarist Kevin Starrs, has been shaping a heavy rock steeped in doom, psychedelia and late‑60s garage sounds. The lineup, centered on Starrs with a shifting roster, builds its songs on slow, distorted riffs, melodic vocal harmonies and atmospheres evoking horror films and B‑movies. A self‑released debut, Vol. 1, appeared in 2010 in a very limited pressing, before Blood Lust (2011) more clearly established them on the international doom and stoner scene. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats followed with Mind Control (2013), more psychedelic and conceptual in tone, then The Night Creeper (2015), fed by noir and giallo imagery, and Wasteland (2018), set against a post‑apocalyptic backdrop. With Nell’ Ora Blu (2024), Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats extend their taste for dark narratives by accentuating the cinematic dimension of their heavy, retro rock.
