Greenleaf
Born in Borlänge, Sweden, at the end of 1999, Greenleaf took shape around guitarist Tommi Holappa with Daniel Lidén and Bengt Bäcke, initially as a side project connected to the local stoner scene, which also included members of Dozer, Demon Cleaner, Lowrider and later Truckfighters. Greenleaf developed a heavy, psychedelic hard rock rooted in stoner rock, with thick riffs, relaxed tempos and a marked taste for 1970s textures without tipping into pastiche. After the EP Greenleaf in 2000, the band released Revolution Rock in 2001 and Secret Alphabets in 2003, before a clearer return to activity with Agents of Ahriman in 2007 and Nest of Vipers in 2012. Long regarded as a fluid lineup, Greenleaf stabilized more from Trails & Passes in 2014, with the arrival of singer Arvid Hällagård and drummer Sebastian Olsson, and later bassist Hans Fröhlich on Hear the Rivers in 2018. This period established a more continuous quartet format, also evident on Rise Above the Meadow (2016), Echoes from a Mass (2021) and The Head & The Habit (2024). Greenleaf also participated in the 2018 collective project The Wall [Redux] with a cover of "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 3 / Goodbye Cruel World."
