Der Dritte Raum

Behind Der Dritte Raum is Andreas Krüger, a producer from Göttingen, Germany, active in the techno field since the early 1990s. The project took shape after early demos circulated in Sven Väth’s circle, then signed to Harthouse before moving to Virgin in the late 1990s and to Resopal Schallware from the mid-2000s. From Mental Modulator (1994) onwards, Der Dritte Raum developed a style straddling progressive techno, acid, trance and psychedelic inflections, with often long tracks built on precise rhythmic motifs, pronounced basslines and shifting sonic textures. Across the releases — from Wellenbad (1996) to Raumgleiter (1998), then Distanz (2000) and Klubraum (2003) — the sound evolved toward a drier, more hypnotic and more directly club‑oriented approach, without losing its taste for variations and discreet ruptures. On stage, Der Dritte Raum regularly performs live with Ralf Uhrlandt, in a format that leaves substantial room for improvisation. The discography continued with Der kleine Korg und das Echo (2005), Rosa Rausch (2010), Morgenland (2013), Aydszieyalaidnem (2015), Electric Friends (2016), D3R-25 Eins (2017) and KOMMIT (2021).
