Marc Romboy

Born in 1970 in Mönchengladbach, Marc Romboy trained in the wake of Düsseldorf's techno scene in the late 1980s, moving between clubs, record shops and the first independent networks. A producer, DJ and label manager, he was initially part of the project Marc und Claude with Klaus Derichs, while from the 1990s he also began founding labels — first Le Petit Prince, and from 2004 Systematic Recordings. His music spans an electronic spectrum from techno to house, often written melodically and structurally with an eye toward club formats without being confined to a single register. Marc Romboy released his first solo album, Gemini, in 2006, followed by Contrast in 2008, and a series of projects that broadened his scope, notably Luna (2011) with Stephan Bodzin and Taiyo (2012) with Ken Ishii. In 2017 he continued this move toward more hybrid forms with Voyage De La Planète and Reconstructing Debussy, made with the Dortmunder Philharmoniker. Alongside his productions, Marc Romboy performs regularly at clubs and festivals across Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
