Sven Väth
Born in Obertshausen, Hesse, Sven Väth emerged in the 1980s on Frankfurt's club scene — first as a resident DJ at Dorian Gray and later as a key figure in the rise of house, acid house, trance and techno in Germany. He also took part in several production projects, notably OFF and Visions of Shiva with Ralf Hildenbeutel, in a register that blends club pulse, psychedelic textures and synthetic melodies. His solo discography includes Accident in Paradise (1992), The Harlequin, the Robot and the Ballet‑Dancer (1994), Fusion (1998), Contact (2000) and Fire (2022). Over the 1990s Väth developed a DJ approach centered on long formats, progressive builds and a constant dialogue between hypnotic techno, deep house and trance accents. He co‑founded the labels Eye Q and Harthouse, and launched Cocoon Recordings in 1999 — a structure that extended his curatorial work and his ties to the Frankfurt and Ibiza scenes. Sven Väth remains associated with a European club culture built over time, spanning production, label management and the international circulation of electronic scenes.
