Christian Smith

Born in Stockholm, Christian Smith spent part of his youth in Frankfurt before moving to New York in 1989 and later to Washington D.C., where he began DJing in the early 1990s while continuing his studies. This trajectory between Sweden, Germany and the United States informs a techno approach focused on groove efficiency, solid rhythms and a progression designed for the club. A producer, DJ and remixer, Christian Smith founded the label Tronic in 1994, a lasting center for his activity and his place in international techno circuits. His work also extends to radio with Tronic Radio, a weekly show picked up by numerous stations; its 200th episode was notable for the presence of Adam Beyer. Now based in Mallorca, Christian Smith continues a career built around releases on his own label, DJ sets and the steady dissemination of a sober, dynamic and functional techno rooted in long formats and mix culture.
