Roman Flügel

From Frankfurt am Main's electronic scene, Roman Flügel has built a career since the early 1990s that spans house, techno, acid and ambient with a flexible, often minimal but never strictly functional approach. Initially involved in the label ecosystem of Ongaku, Klang Elektronik and Playhouse, he has also carried out numerous side projects, notably the duo Alter Ego with Jörn Elling Wuttke, whose activity marked the 2000s. As a solo artist, Roman Flügel has refined a more personal language made of acidic lines, dry rhythms, discreet melodic motifs and textures that draw from both electro and a kind of abstract pop. His discography under his own name includes Fatty Folders (2004), Themes (2016) and All the Right Noises (2021). As both DJ and producer he moves between clubs and international festivals, with sets that reflect the breadth of his references, from house groove to more experimental forms of electronic music.
