Anthony Rother
Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1972, Anthony Rother has been part of the German electro scene since the 1990s with an approach that blends Kraftwerk’s legacy, Detroit electro and at times a more pop-oriented songwriting, driven by dry rhythms, cold synth lines and vocals often processed with a vocoder. After a first track released in 1988 with T.F.D.-Crew, Rother issued his first solo work at the end of the decade, notably via Kanzleramt in the circle around Heiko Laux, before developing his own structures, including psi49net, Datapunk, Stahl Industries and Telekraft Recordings. His discography under his own name includes, among others, Sex with the Machines (1997), Simulationszeitalter (2000), Hacker (2002), Popkiller (2004), Netzwerk der Zukunft (2014), Cyberspace Reality (2020) and Weltmacht Digital (2021). Anthony Rother has also released under several pseudonyms, including Little Computer People and PSI Performer, and his work regularly explores themes of technology, automation and the relationship between human and machine in formats alternating between albums, live shows and DJ sets.
