Gregor Tresher

Active on the German techno scene since the late 1990s, Gregor Tresher has established himself as a producer and DJ based in Frankfurt am Main. He has developed a sound that sits between hypnotic techno and pronounced synthetic melodies. After starting under various aliases, Tresher focused on his own productions in the mid-2000s and released maxis on European labels before issuing the album A Thousand Nights in 2007, which cemented his signature blend of rhythmic tension, luminous pads and progressive structures. This was followed by The Life Wire (2009), Lights From The Inside (2011), Nightcolors (2013), Quiet Distortion (2016) and Black Halo (2021), primarily on his label Break New Soil, which he founded to convey a personal vision of techno and to platform artists aligned with his aesthetic. Frequently invited to clubs and festivals across Europe, North America and Asia, Gregor Tresher alternates between DJ sets and dancefloor-oriented live performances and, through collaborations — notably with Petar Dundov — pursues an approach where melodic elements remain central while retaining the club effectiveness of contemporary European techno.
