Dubfire

Born in Iran and settled at a young age in the United States, Ali Shirazinia grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, where he founded Deep Dish with Sharam Tayebi in the early 1990s. After the duo’s house and progressive house years, Dubfire embarked in the mid-2000s on a solo path oriented toward minimal techno and a drier tech house, marked by repetitive structures, taut basslines and a highly controlled use of rhythmic tension. He developed this shift on international club and festival stages, both in DJ sets and live formats, while launching the SCI+TEC label in 2007. During this period he collaborated notably with Oliver Huntemann and refined a darker, more stripped-back writing than in his early work. His first solo album, EVOLV, was released in 2023. In the journey between progressive house, minimal techno and club techno, Dubfire has built a language focused on mixing efficiency, progression and crisp electronic textures.
