CamelPhat

Based in Liverpool, the duo CamelPhat brings together producers and DJs Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, who emerged from the British club scene and have been active under this name since the early 2010s. Initially noticed on the house and tech-house circuit thanks to a string of maxi singles aimed at the dancefloor, CamelPhat gradually established a signature sound combining percussive groove, thick basslines, melodic atmospheres and frequently foregrounded pop or R&B vocals. The release of “Paradigm” in 2015 broadened their reach, but it was “Cola,” made with Elderbrook in 2017, that propelled the duo onto the international stage, followed by collaborations such as “Panic Room” with Au/Ra and “Breathe” with Cristoph and Jem Cooke. They have since toured clubs and festivals across Europe, North America and Ibiza, moving toward a repertoire where house, progressive house and hints of melodic techno coexist. Their debut album, Dark Matter (2020), synthesizes this progression by compiling several of their standout tracks and vocal features drawn from alternative pop. With Spiritual Milk (2023), the duo extends this hybrid approach — featuring guests like London Grammar and Jake Bugg — and demonstrates a more developed focus on atmospherics, balancing club tension and song-like formats while remaining rooted in the electronic aesthetic that has defined CamelPhat since the start.
