Slayyyter

Nourished by late‑2010s internet culture, Slayyyter, born Catherine Slater, has been developing an electronic pop from the United States that blurs the lines between hyperpop, electroclash and Y2K heritage. Raised in the St. Louis area of Missouri and later based in Los Angeles, Slayyyter began releasing her early tracks online, notably on SoundCloud, where she shaped an aesthetic mixing 2000s pop imagery, celebrity culture and direct references to web communities. This initial phase culminated in the 2019 mixtape “Slayyyter”, followed the same year by the EP “Out of Time” — milestones that established a songwriting focused on immediate hooks, club rhythms and heavily processed vocals. With the album “Troubled Paradise” (2021) and “Starfucker” (2023), Slayyyter refined a more structured approach to pop songwriting while retaining an abrasive, nocturnal edge, expanding collaborations with producers and artists from the hyperpop scene and a generation of musicians shaped by social media.
