Jamie Webster
Rooted in Liverpool, in the north of England, Jamie Webster is steadily establishing himself as a singer-songwriter at the crossroads of British folk, indie rock and socially engaged song. First noticed in the mid-2010s in pubs and at the BOSS Nights associated with Liverpool FC supporters—where he reworked terrace chants into acoustic ballads—Webster then moved towards an original body of work that tells of urban everyday life, the world of work and inequality as seen from his home city. His debut album, We Get By (2020), sets out a direct writing style, driven by guitar and communal choruses, while Moments (2022) broadens the scope towards a more expansive brand of folk rock, bolstered on stage by a band that amplifies the choral feel of his shows. With 10 For The People in 2024, Webster continues this thread of strongly narrative songs, alternating intimate vignettes, neighbourhood portraits and explicit political statements. Situated within a British scene where acoustic songwriting meets indie energy, he remains closely bound to Liverpool, which fuels the imagery and provides the backdrop for most of his lyrics.
