The Cheap Thrills
Formed in 2010 in the Walton district of Liverpool, The Cheap Thrills brings together Lewis Pike, Anton Eager, Terry Eaves, and Callum Fitzpatrick around melodic British indie rock nourished by straightforward guitars, catchy choruses, and a live energy anchored in the local Merseyside tradition. First spotted on the Liverpool scene, the band appeared as early as 2012 at Kendal Calling and Liverpool Sound City, before playing more club shows and opening acts across the UK. The Cheap Thrills signed with Eighties Vinyl Records in 2017 and released the same year the EP Glare, followed in 2019 by Vue Du Monde, a shorter format that prolongs a broader sound, between indie rock, nervy pop, and light post-punk tension. Across singles, notably 'Sentimentality', 'Codependence', 'Saint or Sinner' and 'Party', The Cheap Thrills refines a concise writing style, centered on guitars and vocals, with a sense of contrast between melodic immediacy and rhythmic nervous energy. The band has also played at events such as The Great Escape, Liverpool International Music Festival, the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival Fringe, and New Colossus in New York in 2020. In 2024, The Cheap Thrills released the Mind Metro EP independently, confirming the continuity of a journey built between the local scene, national circulation, and an admitted attachment to Liverpool.
