The View
Born in Dundee, Scotland, in the mid-2000s, The View formed around Kyle Falconer, Kieren Webster, Pete Reilly and drummer Steven Morrison, firmly rooted in the local scene before quickly moving beyond it. The View developed a nervy, melodic indie rock infused with punk, power pop, folk rock and a Celtic touch that stems as much from their songwriting as from the band’s Scottish phrasing. After a first EP in 2006, The View broke onto the British circuit with songs like "Wasted Little DJs" and "Same Jeans", propelled by radio play, touring and festivals such as Reading and Leeds and T in the Park. Their studio discography ranges from Hats Off to the Buskers (2007) to Which Bitch? (2009), Bread and Circuses (2011), Cheeky for a Reason (2012), Ropewalk (2015) and Exorcism of Youth (2023). Over the years The View evolved their writing while keeping a foundation of straightforward choruses, sharp guitars and a British pub‑rock sound with pop accents. Paused in 2017, The View resumed activity in 2022 around the Falconer–Webster–Reilly core, with Jay Sharrock on drums in the more recent period.
