Born in Iloilo City, Philippines in 2000 and raised in London during her childhood, Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus—known as beabadoobee—initially developed an intimate, lo-fi songwriting approach that sat between bedroom pop, folk-pop and indie rock, before broadening her palette toward a pop-rock sound informed by ’90s guitars, slacker rock and shoegaze touches. beabadoobee emerged in 2017 with “Coffee,” then released several EPs on Dirty Hit including Lice (2018), Patched Up (2018), Loveworm (2019), Space Cadet (2019) and Our Extended Play (2021). Her debut album, Fake It Flowers (2020), marked a more direct, electric turn, continued on Beatopia (2022), which juxtaposes lighter melodies with alternative textures, and followed by This Is How Tomorrow Moves (2024). Over the course of her career she moved quickly from early independent stages to larger tours, serving as support for artists such as Clairo, The 1975, Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. She has also collaborated with musicians like Clairo, Laufey, Luna Li and Cavetown, while keeping her work focused on songcraft, voice and guitar.
