TV Girl

Born in San Diego, California, in 2010 around Brad Petering and Trung Ngo, TV Girl initially developed as a bedroom project blending indie pop, dream pop, ambient pop and a lo-fi aesthetic, with collage and sampling at its core. Early landmarks in TV Girl’s output included several short-format releases: the EP TV Girl (2010), Benny and the Jetts (2011), the mixtape The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle (2012) and Lonely Women (2013). After Trung Ngo’s departure, TV Girl refocused around Brad Petering, joined by Jason Wyman and Wyatt Harmon, becoming a trio. This lineup crystallized on French Exit (2014), Who Really Cares (2016) and Death of a Party Girl (2018), where TV Girl cultivated a melancholic, hushed pop informed by references to the popular music and imaginaries of the 1950s and 1960s, with often ironic lyrics about relationships, memory and disenchantment. In 2023, Grapes Upon the Vine broadened the palette with soul and gospel hues. TV Girl has also pursued several side and collaborative projects, notably Summer’s Over with Jordana in 2021 and Fauxllennium with George Clanton in 2024.
