wave to earth

Formed in Seoul in 2019, wave to earth brings together Daniel Kim on vocals and guitar, Dong Q on drums and John Cha on bass in a trio rooted in South Korean indie rock with a flexible, melodic approach often tinged with jazz, bedroom pop and lo‑fi. The project took shape around Daniel Kim and Dong Q, who have known each other since their teens, before John Cha joined at the group’s official beginnings. wave to earth first released the EPs wave 0.01 and summer flows 0.02 in 2020, already revealing a mellow sound built on clean guitars, a discreet rhythm section and tracks with a nocturnal atmosphere. In 2021 the trio joined the WAVY label and continued to circulate through the Korean independent scene, live formats such as Naver Onstage and several festivals, including the Seoul Jazz Festival and the Pentaport Rock Festival. Their debut album, 0.1 flaws and all., appeared in 2023, followed by play with earth! 0.03 in 2024. Since their beginnings, wave to earth has developed English-language songwriting and a gentle, introspective and highly organic aesthetic that quickly established them beyond the local scene.
