The Halo Effect
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, The Halo Effect brings together former members of In Flames around vocalist Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) with the aim of revisiting the melodic death‑metal sound associated with the city. Formed in 2020, the band was conceived from the start as a standalone project built on a stable core of seasoned musicians who share a common past in the Gothenburg scene. The Halo Effect's music is rooted in aggressive, tightly structured riffs, enriched by pronounced melodic lines, clear choruses and dark atmospheres, oscillating between high‑velocity energy and more mid‑tempo passages. Early singles, including “Shadowminds” (2021), quickly established the band's identity, ahead of the 2022 release of the album “Days of the Lost” on Nuclear Blast, which synthesizes this approach between 1990s heritage and contemporary production. The Halo Effect subsequently expanded onto the European stage through joint tours with international metal bands and a regular festival presence, consolidating a repertoire centered on that debut album and its variations. Relying on its members' experience and an aesthetic clearly referencing the Gothenburg scene, The Halo Effect continues to refine its style between melodic extreme metal, classic heavy touches and arrangements designed for live performance.
