Malevolence
Active since the early 2010s in Sheffield, United Kingdom, Malevolence sits within a scene where metalcore, groove metal and hardcore intersect. The band has developed a sound marked by heavy, syncopated riffs, mid-tempo rhythms indebted to 1990s American metal, and an energy close to British hardcore, featuring largely screamed vocals punctuated by more melodic passages. Malevolence gradually emerged on the European metal and hardcore circuit, propelled by word-of-mouth from club shows and a steady touring presence. The release of the album "Reign of Suffering" in 2013 established an initial identity based on a blend of thrash and beatdown, while "Self Supremacy" in 2017 moved them toward more structured songwriting and more varied atmospheres. The EP "The Other Side" (2020) highlighted a more melodic side, before "Malicious Intent" (2022) consolidated the balance between aggression, catchy choruses and groovy sonics. Across these releases, Malevolence has asserted itself as a regular touring act on metal and hardcore stages in the UK and internationally.
