Swedish House Mafia

Gathered in Stockholm around Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, Swedish House Mafia established themselves in the late 2000s with a brand of house tailored to clubs and large festivals, between progressive house, electro house and choruses crafted for a pop format. The trio formalized their project in 2008 after having already circulated on the Swedish electronic scene as solo artists, and then released tracks that accompanied the global rise of EDM — such as One (2010), Miami 2 Ibiza with Tinie Tempah the same year, Save the World (2011), Antidote with Knife Party (2011), Greyhound (2012) and Don’t You Worry Child with John Martin (2012). Swedish House Mafia developed a direct songwriting approach, built on progressive buildups, very clear melodic lines and production calibrated for large spaces. After a split announced in 2012 and carried out in 2013, documented by the film Leave the World Behind, Swedish House Mafia reappeared sporadically before fully relaunching the project in the early 2020s.
