Kygo
Under the name Kygo, Norwegian producer and DJ Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll rose to prominence from Bergen in the early 2010s on the international electronic scene by developing a melodic take on tropical house that blends moderate tempos, prominent piano lines and pop-oriented structures. First noticed for remixes shared online, Kygo drew attention with his rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” in 2013 and then with the single “Firestone” in 2014, which placed him in an airy house register with warm sonorities. His debut album “Cloud Nine” was released in 2016, followed by “Kids in Love” (2017), “Golden Hour” (2020) and “Thrill of the Chase” (2022); each project explores a balance between electronic production, guest pop vocals and piano-centered arrangements. Kygo has repeatedly collaborated with artists from pop and R&B—among them Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Miguel and Imagine Dragons—and released a version of “Higher Love” based on a Whitney Houston recording, while gradually moving into the major festival circuit and arena tours. His music, often built around simple harmonic progressions and luminous textures, favors a song format over a strictly club orientation, placing Kygo at the crossroads of mainstream electronic music, pop radio and the chill-out tradition.
