Afrojack

Dutch DJ and producer Afrojack is the stage name of Nick van de Wall, born in 1987 in Spijkenisse, near Rotterdam. Active in electro house and the EDM scene, with forays into pop and hip-hop, Afrojack began releasing maxi singles in the mid-2000s and founded the Wall Recordings label to release his early productions. The 2010 single Take Over Control, featuring singer Eva Simons, marked an important milestone, giving Afrojack access to major international stages and a series of studio collaborations, notably with David Guetta, Pitbull, Beyoncé and Ne-Yo. Alongside his DJ appearances at major European and North American festivals and in Las Vegas clubs, Afrojack developed a sound centered on powerful house rhythms, progressive builds and direct melodies, often designed for the dancefloor but incorporating vocal elements close to pop. His debut studio album, Forget the World, was released in 2014 and mixes club-oriented tracks with song-format pieces. Afrojack also uses the aliases NLW and Kapuchon to explore rougher or more minimalist facets of house, while continuing his remixes, several of which have been noted in the context of the Grammy Awards.
