Tiësto

Born in Breda in 1969, Dutch DJ and producer Tijs Verwest became known as Tiësto in the mid-1990s on the European trance scene. Initially active in Dutch clubs, he stood out with projects like Gouryella and Kamaya Painters and with the compilation series “In Search of Sunrise”, which established Tiësto in a melodic trance register with long progressive builds. His first solo album, “In My Memory” (2001), marked a shift to a song-oriented format, followed by “Just Be” (2004) and “Elements of Life” (2007), where trance opened up to pop and electronic rock. Over the 2010s Tiësto steered his production toward progressive house and mainstream EDM with records such as “Kaleidoscope” (2009), “A Town Called Paradise” (2014), “The London Sessions” (2020) and “Drive” (2023), increasing collaborations with singers and producers from pop, rap and dance. Founder of the labels Black Hole Recordings and later Musical Freedom, Tiësto alternates studio productions, remixes and international tours, now favouring a style built on direct structures, vocal hooks and songwriting conceived for large festival stages as well as mainstream radio.
