Arch Enemy

Formed in 1995 in Halmstad, Arch Enemy operates within melodic death metal, driven by the guitar work of Michael Amott, who founded the band after leaving Carcass. The early albums, from "Black Earth" (1996) to "Burning Bridges" (1999), established a sound built on fast riffs, twin harmonies and heavy/thrash influences. The arrival of vocalist Angela Gossow in the early 2000s marked a significant turning point: with "Wages of Sin" (2001), "Anthems of Rebellion" (2003) and "Doomsday Machine" (2005) Arch Enemy refined a blend of rhythmic brutality and catchy melodies, fronted by an extreme vocal style. After "Rise of the Tyrant" (2007) and the re-recordings album "The Root of All Evil" (2009), "Khaos Legions" (2011) continued this direct, sometimes politicized approach. In 2014 the band adopted a new face with Alissa White-Gluz on vocals for "War Eternal"; this transition also saw guitarist Jeff Loomis join and a songwriting shift toward more sung choruses and melodic arrangements. "Will to Power" (2017) and "Deceivers" (2022) confirmed this direction while retaining the death-metal foundation. Active on major European, North American and Asian stages, Arch Enemy functions as an international outfit firmly embedded in the extreme scene, combining socially aware lyrics and classic metal imagery with an immediately identifiable sound.
