Kreator
Born in the mid-1980s out of Essen’s metal scene in Germany, Kreator first grew up under the name Tormentor before finally adopting the name Kreator. Rooted in the fastest and most abrasive side of thrash metal, the band stood out early on for its raspy, near-extreme vocals, tight riffs and a dark imagery drawn as much from horror as from political tensions. With albums like 'Endless Pain' (1985), 'Pleasure to Kill' (1986) and 'Extreme Aggression' (1989), Kreator became part of the so-called Teutonic thrash movement alongside other German acts, then shifted direction in the 1990s by incorporating industrial, gothic and more melodic elements on releases such as 'Renewal' (1992) and 'Endorama' (1999). From 'Violent Revolution' (2001) onward, Kreator returned to a more explicitly thrash-oriented writing style, enriched by harmonies akin to melodic death metal, while focusing lyrics on social critique, religion, violence and modern alienation. Still led by singer and guitarist Mille Petrozza, Kreator tours regularly across Europe, North and South America, presenting live material from different eras of their discography up to recent albums like 'Phantom Antichrist' (2012), 'Gods of Violence' (2017) and 'Hate Über Alles' (2022).
