Jeanne Added
Born in Reims in 1980, Jeanne Added first trained as a cellist, in opera singing, then in jazz, with a spell at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Before establishing her own repertoire, Jeanne Added moved within the jazz scene alongside musicians such as Vincent Courtois, Riccardo Del Fra, Baptiste Trotignon, Yves Rousseau or John Greaves, and participated in the trio Yes Is a Pleasant Country. From the late 2000s she developed a more personal project, first solo, in a spare form where voice, bass and writing take the foreground. Her first EP appeared in 2011, then Jeanne Added began a shift toward a pop rock, post-punk and electronic aesthetic with Be Sensational in 2015, produced by Dan Levy. Radiate followed in 2018, co-produced with the Maestro duo, and intensified work on textures, pulsations and a more direct writing, between rhythmic tension, synthetic lines and singing often in English. In 2020, the EP Air marked a clearer emphasis on French, before the album By Your Side in 2022. On stage, Jeanne Added has since her beginnings moved between festivals, rock venues and more transversal contexts, with a format that highlights both vocal precision and the physical energy of her compositions.
