Laura Cahen

Born in Nancy in 1990, Laura Cahen has since the early 2010s developed a career located between French chanson, indie pop and folk with muted contours. After an initial stint in the Nancy-based duo Deux Z’elles, active from 2007 to 2012 and author of two EPs, Cahen pursued a solo path with a first EP in 2012, then O in 2015. Her music relies on intimate writing, flexible melodies, and singing that moves forward with restraint, in a register where acoustic arrangements, orchestrated pop, and moodier, more dreamlike atmospheres intersect. Discovered at the start of her career by FAIR and the Inouïs of Printemps de Bourges, Cahen later established herself on French and Francophone stages with several hundred concerts. Her first album Nord was released in 2017, followed by Une fille in 2021, produced with Dan Levy, then the EP Des filles in 2023, built around female collaborations. Parallel to her discographic releases, Cahen has also seen some of her songs appear in cinema and television, notably La complainte du soleil for the film I Lost My Body (2019) and Poussière in the series You (2021). Her third album, De l’autre côté, was released in 2025.
