Barbara Carlotti
Born in Clamart in 1974, Barbara Carlotti belongs to the tradition of French chanson while blending orchestral pop, sixties influences and more experimental touches. Based in Paris, she emerged in the early 2000s on a chanson scene that was close to indie pop, before releasing the 2005 album « Les Lys brisés », noted for its elegant arrangements and a taste for narrative lyrics. « L’Idéal » (2008) and « L’Amour, l’argent, le vent » (2012) confirmed a focus on songwriting, poetic imagery and a calm, assured voice often matched with expansive orchestrations between baroque pop and understated folk. Alongside her records, Carlotti has developed radio and stage projects, created shows combining readings, theater and music, and taken part in productions for France Culture. The 2018 album « Magnétique » opened a more dreamlike period, where cosmic atmospheres, subtle synthesizers and softened krautrock motifs intersect. Through collaborations with artists such as Bertrand Belin and Philippe Katerine, she moves between singer-songwriter chanson, hushed psychedelic pop and more narrative formats, while maintaining a strong anchor in the French language.
