Izia
Daughter of Jacques Higelin, Izïa was born in Paris in 1990 and first makes her mark on stage in a straightforward rock register, driven by a very live energy. Her beginnings take shape with a trio and a self-titled debut album, Izia, released in 2009, followed by So Much Trouble in 2011, in an anglophone rock vein where garage rock, blues rock and punk tension cross paths. Over the years, Izïa has evolved her writing and singing toward a more melodic French-language pop rock, also more synth-driven, without breaking with the intensity of her performances. This shift appears with La Vague in 2015, then continues on Citadelle in 2019, where pop, electro and a form of contemporary song take more space. Parallel to her musical career, Izïa pursues acting work in cinema and theatre, which nourishes a highly embodied stage presence. Between rock festivals, mainstream venues and projects in varied formats, Izïa has built a career marked by moving from nervous group rock to a more personal pop writing, while maintaining a strong taste for contrast, rhythm and direct refrains.
