Catastrophe

Formed in France in 2016, Catastrophe first developed as a collective before taking shape as a four-voice group bringing together Carol Teillard d’Eyry, Pierre Degueldre, Arthur Simonini and Blandine Rinkel. The project sits at the crossroads of French pop, chanson, art-pop and a stage approach nourished by performance: songs that mix choral writing, discreet spoken word, melodic arrangements and dramatic tension while remaining within a pop format. After an initial emergence on the French independent scene, Catastrophe released La nuit est encore jeune in 2018 on Tricatel, then GONG! in 2020, a record more collective in its impulse and writing. With La proie et l’ombre, released in 2024, Catastrophe shifts its aesthetic toward a more introspective form, tightening textures and giving greater prominence to the gravity of the lyrics. Between concerts, festivals and projects that borrow as much from spectacle as from pop live, Catastrophe continues a singular trajectory within the contemporary French landscape.
