Kneecap
Kneecap is a trio from Belfast and West Belfast, made up of Mo Chara, Moglaí Bap and producer DJ Próvaí. A prominent figure in a brash, politicized new Irish scene, the group became known for a blunt blend of bilingual rap (Irish/English), dark humour and sharp social commentary. Born into a context marked by identity tensions and the legacies of the Northern Ireland conflict, Kneecap subverts symbols, courts provocation and turns the realities of their neighbourhood into artistic material, forging a style where satire, commitment and self-mockery advance together. From their first viral tracks they drew attention with raw energy and writing that addresses alcohol, precarity, local politics and street life. Their notoriety quickly spread across Ireland and beyond, supported by notable tours and a stage approach as radical as it is jubilant. With their first full-length release and an autobiographical film presented on the international stage, Kneecap continues its rise, embodying one of the most singular and unruly voices of contemporary Irish culture.
