Gurriers
Formed in Dublin in the early 2020s, Gurriers operate within a tense post‑punk vein where art‑punk, noise rock and stage energy converge. The Irish five‑piece crafts nervous songs driven by abrasive guitars, tight rhythms and a vocal style that alternates between directness, urgency and detachment, with a clear taste for urban tensions and social fractures. Gurriers began circulating on the Irish—and later the British—independent scene thanks to a string of singles that quickly established a dry, direct aesthetic without resorting to retro pastiche. Their lyrics address contemporary unease, normalized violence, a sense of downward social mobility and the political contradictions of an unstable era, written in a concise, often caustic style. After several tracks that drew attention live and online, Gurriers released their debut album, Come and See, in 2024, a record that broadens the band’s scope while maintaining the intensity of their sound. Between punk urgency, rhythmic precision and more experimental angles, Gurriers have emerged as one of the names to watch on Ireland’s new alternative scene.
