Polaris
Active since the early 2010s in Sydney, Australia, Polaris craft a metalcore sound with melodic and progressive leanings, driven by the interplay between harsh screams and clean vocals, technical guitars, and a pronounced focus on atmosphere. The band first emerged through a run of local shows and early tracks posted online, then cemented its presence with the EP Dichotomy (2013), which laid a foundation of rapid-fire riffs and off‑kilter, syncopated structures. In 2016, the EP The Guilt & The Grief refined this blend of aggressive passages, more open choruses, and atmospheric textures, while firmly anchoring Polaris within the Australian metal scene. Their debut album, The Mortal Coil (2017), expanded the framework with longer compositions and introspective themes, followed by The Death of Me (2020), which continued to balance blunt impact, memorable melodies, and more contemplative stretches. With Fatalism (2023), Polaris keep exploring songwriting where rhythmic breakdowns, almost post‑rock sections, and subtle electronic motifs intersect—bolstered by a powerful onstage dynamic, regular touring in Australia and abroad, and a firmly established place in contemporary metalcore.
