Lip Critic
Formed in Brooklyn, Lip Critic brings together Danny Eberle, Bret Kraser, Connor Kleitz and Ilan Natter in a New York quartet whose lineup with two drummers contributes to a tense, physical and fragmented sound. Active since 2019, Lip Critic moves between post-punk, electropunk and digital hardcore, producing music that mixes hammering rhythms, abrasive electronic textures, spoken word, screams and deliberately jarring structures. The band began playing together as early as 2018 and quickly released two EPs, Kill Lip Critic in 2019 and Lip Critic II in 2020, which established the foundations of this nervous, sarcastic aesthetic. Lip Critic later joined Partisan Records and released a debut album, Hex Dealer, in 2024, followed by Theft World in 2026. Over the course of this trajectory, Lip Critic has developed an approach that is both punk and performative, rooted in New York’s independent scene but open to more hybrid forms where hardcore energy intersects with electronics, saturation and a pronounced sense of rhythmic dislocation.
