Model/Actriz

Born in Boston and quickly associated with the Brooklyn scene, Model/Actriz have established themselves as an American quartet at the intersection of post-punk, noise rock, industrial and a rhythmic tension close to dance-punk. The band brings together Cole Haden on vocals with Ruben Radlauer, Jack Wetmore and Aaron Shapiro, and since the late 2010s has developed a dry, physical and very angular sound built on abrasive guitars, a repetitive bass, driving drums and a voice that alternates spoken phrasing, screams and more melodic lines. After several EPs and singles that placed them within American independent circuits, Model/Actriz gained visibility on stage—first in the East Coast underground and later across a wider network of rock venues and festivals. Their debut album, Dogsbody, released in 2023, firmly establishes this aesthetic: tense tracks, sometimes repetitive structures, frontal energy and significant work on the dynamic between danceable pulse and sonic friction. Model/Actriz thus belongs to a contemporary post-punk strain that borrows as much from performance as from experimental rock, while maintaining concise, nervy songwriting.
