HAAi

Based in London, Australian producer and DJ HAAi, born Teneil Throssell in Western Australia, develops a sound world between hypnotic techno, breakbeat, psychedelic textures and experimental electronic pop. She first appeared as a member of the psych-rock band Dark Bells before turning to club music after relocating to the UK, shaping in London a sound defined by repetition, treated vocals and a strong percussive drive. HAAi came to prominence from 2016 thanks to an extended residency at Phonox in Brixton, which anchored her in the London scene and led to major European festivals and key techno venues. On the production side she released a string of EPs from 2017, including Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik (2018), Systems Up, Windows Down (2019), Put Your Head Above The Parakeets (2020) and The Sun Made For A Soft Landing (2022), before issuing her debut album Baby, We’re Ascending in 2022 on Mute Records. Between fast techno, hazy ambient and deconstructed trance motifs, HAAi’s tracks play on the tension between rave energy, fragmented voices and more introspective melodies — an approach she also extends in occasional collaborations with Romy and Fred again.. around the single Lights Out.
