Four Tet

London producer and musician Kieran Hebden, better known as Four Tet, emerged in the late 1990s following his beginnings with the post-rock group Fridge. Under the Four Tet name, he explores a hybrid electronic approach that blends samples, acoustic instrumentation, and influences from folk, jazz, hip-hop and club music. Early albums Dialogue (1999), Pause (2001) and Rounds (2003) established a style often associated with folktronica, while Everything Ecstatic (2005) and There Is Love in You (2010) heightened the rhythmic focus and a growing affinity with house and London club culture. Alongside his DJ work, Four Tet has released numerous remixes and collaborations, notably with jazz drummer Steve Reid on several improvised recordings, as well as split 12-inches with Burial and Thom Yorke. Hebden founded the label Text Records, which became an important platform for his releases, including Pink (2012), Beautiful Rewind (2013), Morning/Evening (2015), New Energy (2017) and Sixteen Oceans (2020). Four Tet’s discography also includes more experimental projects such as Parallel (2020), 871 (2020) and Three (2024), continuing his pursuit of a balance between intimate listening and dancefloor-oriented formats.
