Bicep

Born from the friendship between Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar, Bicep took shape in 2009 in London, though the duo hail from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Initially active as DJs and tastemakers through the Feel My Bicep blog, Bicep put records and edits back into circulation linked to disco, Chicago house, Detroit techno and Italo — a foundation that has left a lasting imprint on their music. The project moved onto record releases on Throne of Blood, Mystery Meat, Traveller Records and Aus Music, before founding the Feel My Bicep label in 2012. In their productions, Bicep blends breakbeat, house, melodic techno, ambient swathes and rave reminiscences into a format both club-oriented and introspective, with crisp rhythms, hazy textures and a marked taste for fragmented vocal motifs. After several acclaimed EPs such as Vision of Love, Just and Aura, Bicep released a self-titled debut album in 2017 on Ninja Tune, followed by Isles in 2021, which extends this broader, more melodic approach. The duo also developed an important live setup in their trajectory, spanning clubs, festivals and audiovisual performances, while continuing their production work with singles like Atlas, Apricots, Water and the CHROMA series begun in 2024.
