Tinashe
Born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in California, Tinashe developed at a very early age a path that blended dance, television, and music before establishing herself as a solo artist in a register between contemporary R&B, pop, and alternative R&B. After a stint with the girl group The Stunners from 2007 to 2011, she began her solo journey with the mixtapes In Case We Die and Reverie in 2012, followed by Black Water in 2013, where a more atmospheric writing emerged, mixing pop melodies, supple rhythms, and nocturnal textures. Signed later to RCA, Tinashe released Aquarius in 2014, followed by Nightride in 2016 and Joyride in 2018, while occasionally collaborating with artists from rap, pop, and electronic scenes. After leaving her label in 2019, Tinashe pursued an independent path with Songs for You (2019), 333 (2021), BB/Ang3l (2023), and Quantum Baby (2024), albums that extend a freer body of work at the intersections of R&B, club, futuristic pop, and minimalist sensuality. On stage, Tinashe relies on her dance training to craft highly choreographed performances, which have included headlining tours as well as festival appearances and opening acts for Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, or Flume.
