Carly Rae Jepsen
Born in Mission, British Columbia, Carly Rae Jepsen first trained in musical theatre before being noticed in 2007 on Canadian Idol, where her third-place finish launched her recording debut. Her first album Tug of War (2008), sits in an acoustic pop-folk vein, before a sharp turn toward pop and dance-pop with Curiosity in 2012 followed by Kiss the same year. It was during this period that Carly Rae Jepsen established herself internationally with \"Call Me Maybe\", then with \"Good Time\" in collaboration with Owl City. From Emotion (2015), co-written notably with Rostam Batmanglij, Dev Hynes, Sia, Greg Kurstin or Ariel Rechtshaid, her writing evolved toward a more precise synth-pop, marked by 1980s textures, melodic choruses, and a blend of vocal lightness and pop melancholy. Carly Rae Jepsen has since alternated between studio albums and companion volumes with Dedicated (2019) and Dedicated Side B (2020), then The Loneliest Time (2022) and The Loveliest Time (2023), where she expands her range further between disco, soft rock and dance-pop. Parallel to the pop scene, she also appeared on Broadway in Cinderella in 2014 and participated in several film and television projects, while continuing international tours in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
