Jet
Originating from Melbourne’s rock scene in Australia, Jet formed in the early 2000s around Nic Cester, Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson as a guitar‑bass‑drums quartet rooted in classic rock. From their earliest recordings, Jet aligned with the garage rock revival while incorporating elements of hard rock, power pop and alternative rock, delivering a direct sound with distorted riffs, a driving rhythm section and melodies carried by Nic Cester’s raspy voice. Their debut album Get Born (2003) established Jet on the international stage and led to extensive touring across Australia, Europe and North America, often opening for established rock acts. Shine On (2006) and Shaka Rock (2009) show a shift toward a more melodic and slightly more produced approach while retaining Jet’s attachment to the simple, effective song structures inherited from 1960s and 1970s rock. After announcing a split in 2012, Jet reformed from 2017 for a series of concerts and anniversary tours, maintaining an activity focused primarily on live performances of the energetic rock repertoire that remains at the heart of the band’s identity.
